XL Software v2.22 Release
Manual Run Detection Enhancements
Most applications using the XL devices use a count signal and the ‘Auto-Run’ detection to capture downtime. But the XL system can instead be used ‘manually’.
Hide Irrelevant Reports
Manual Run Detection is typically used for processes such as cutting, blending or welding where there are no regular cycles, parts take minutes to manufacture, and an external signal informs XL when the process is running/down.
In these applications, some built-in reports may not be relevant, and you now have the option to remove them.

Apply Down Threshold as Minimum Duration
The second enhancement to Manual Run Detection is an option to apply minimum thresholds for down events.
This is particularly useful for equipment that repositions while running, like laser cutters. If a run signal is no longer sensed, the process will still be considered running until the threshold is met. After the threshold has passed, a Down event is logged, mirroring what is truly happening on the factory floor.

Other Changes
Improved User Experience
The engineers worked hard to fix every little quirk we could find in the XL software to give you an even better user experience. Therefore, this is a recommended software update for everybody.
Caffeinated Barcode Scanners
USB barcode scanners no longer fall asleep between scans in quick succession. Your scanner now stays awake, ready for you to continue scanning!
** New Product ** XL Sidekick App
Real-Time Visibility Anywhere in Your Plant
XL Sidekick is a free app for Android and iOS that enables you to access XL from anywhere in your plant using your phone or a tablet. It features the same UX as XL Touch, making it intuitive for operators to access XL from anywhere along the line, and for supervisors to access XL from anywhere in the plant. Simply ensure your device is connected to the same network as your XL devices, and your XL devices are running version 2.21 or later.
You can download Sidekick now to your phone or tablet from the Apple App Store or from Google Play.
XL Sidekick in a web browser
If your company policy doesn’t allow apps in your facility, in v2.22 the same interface is going to be available through your web browser by simply adding “/sidekick” to any XL URL.
This means you can operate your XL from any web browser eg tablet or laptop/PC. This is a great back up tool in case you have an issue with a scanner
Dont forget pressing a button is the same as scanning a barcode, so be careful if you are trying it out and having a play
